| What's 1382? |
1382, pronounced
thirteen eighty-two, is a Thursday night worship
service at Hillcrest Baptist Church. It’s a laid
back place to come and worship together and be
challenged from God’s Word.
1382 is not designed to entertain, but to be
engaging, personal, and challenging. It’s easy to
come and be entertained by good music and funny
stories, but if that’s what we do in worship, we
miss the point. At 1382 we are intense about two
things: worshipping God and examining his word and
its implication for our lives as disciples.
Our hope is that as you come you will decide to
interact with God in worship rather than watch or be
entertained. As you do this, his Word will challenge
and stretch you. The goal is not that you would hear
an interesting speech, but that you would be
confronted with the truth and power of scripture. As
that happens, scripture, not any person, will impact
your way of thinking and living, calling you to
deeper devotion to God. |
